Cancun Cancun, on the tip of the Yucatan peninsula, sizzles as Mexico top tourist destination with expansive white sand shoreline, clear blue-green waters, and a line-up of gleaming hotels. Exciting night life, an overall tropical atmosphere, and the nearby mystique of ancient civilization draw more than two million visitors a year, making it difficult to fathom that a half century ago, Cancun was only a blueprint. Launched in 1974 as a lanned resort?built from scratch, Cancun has 200-plus days of yearly sunshine accompanied by temperatures averaging 80F (25C) that can seem much warmer. The "Hotel Zone" is a 14-mile stretch on an island shaped like a "7." To the North is the Caribbean, with waters to the west sheltered by Isla Mujeres (Isle of Women) creating more gentle wave action.

Mexico City Mexico City has a long and fascinating past, an intriguing present and an exciting future. Many of the area's pre-colonial capitals were based here, the last being the Aztec, Tenochtitlan, which in the 14th-century was the largest city in the Western Hemisphere. Remains of this old capital can be visited today or you can explore the more modern colonial treasures that are abundant, such as the Museo Nacional de Antropologia or the impressive Zocalo Square. The Palacio de Bellas Artes is a fabulous building, designed by the famous architect Porfirio Diaz and is worth visiting. You really need to spend as long as possible in Mexico City, to fully appreciate the majesty and excitement of this fabulous capital.

Playa Del Carmen Tourism to Playa del Carmen began with the passenger ferry service to Cozumel, an island across the Cozumel Channel and world-famous scuba diving destination. While passing through, many people realized that it was a nice place to relax away from the crowds of Cancún but with the same quality beaches and turquoise waters. While not as incredible as Cozumel, Playa del Carmen's coast offers some good scuba diving opportunities, as well as cenote diving for the more adventurous.
